Why I Made a 30 Before 30 List

I want to end my 20s with a BANG!

A lot of people feel anxious about turning 30, and honestly, I have mixed feelings about it too. Age-wise, I’m not scared of the number. I love seeing women on social media absolutely thriving in their 30s and because of that, I’m actually excited to get there!

However, I still get the occasional “what the hell have I done with my life?” moment. I think my quarter-life crisis came a little late compared to most people. It hit me at 28. So when I turned 29, I made a decision: I was going to start trying new things and get to know myself better.

I’ve kept this list mostly low-cost so it’s doable and accessible for anyone. Looking at it, I believe every item moves me closer to my biggest goal which is discovering myself. Some are bucket list adventures. Some are personal goals I’ve been too comfortable to face. And some are physically and mentally challenging. I’m ready to step into my 30s wiser and more resilient.

Without further ado, here's the list.

Fitness, Adventures & Challenges

1. Run a marathon! I’ve done a half marathon and what a big accomplishment that was! I was so fit during my running era. And I love running! This feels like the natural next step.

I was selected as one of the 3500 runners for TBR 2027!

2. Run a sub-30 5K. When I ran the half marathon, speed wasn’t really my goal. But this year, I want to physically challenge myself as a runner.

3. Learn how to swim. A survival skill everyone should have.

4. Try freediving. People who can freedive are so cool. I want to be cool.

5. Hike Mt. Pinatubo. I wasn’t at my fittest when we did this hike, and I definitely didn’t fuel up enough. The views were absolutely unreal, though. I was lightheaded on the way back. If you ever go hiking, please eat a lot beforehand!

 6. Canyoneering at Kawasan Falls. This had been on my bucket list for years! It was so fun, and I felt incredibly brave jumping off the cliffs. I honestly don’t know if I’ll do it again. It was VERY tiring. It was also the moment I realized that maybe hiking just isn’t really my thing.

7. Climb Mt. Pulag. And yet, here we are. I still want to climb Mt. Pulag at least once in my life.

8. Learn tennis or pickleball. Always down to pick up a new sport!

9. Drive an ATV. A bit scary for me. I first drove an ATV in Bohol and at first, I didn’t enjoy it. But once I got the hang of it, I had so much fun!

10. Try Pilates. I love going to the gym but I always ALWAYS skip core exercises. Oops. I’m open to trying Mat or Reformer Pilates to fix that.

11. Try Barre. I’ve heard Barre will make you feel the burn like nothing else.

12. Get my front splits and backbends back. I was heartbroken when I realized I could no longer do a backbend. I used to do them all the time as a kid, and even into my early 20s. When I tried doing them again, I couldn’t. Splits, I can still somehow do. Basically, the goal here is to become more flexible.

Beauty, Wellness & Self-Care

13. Get my first facial. Yes, I’m 29 and I’ve never had a facial. It’s never too late! And with my wedding coming up, now is the perfect time to start and work toward that bridal glow.

14. Get my eyebrows laminated. I know how to do my makeup, but my brows are my weak spot. I’m curious whether this will elevate my whole look.

15. Laser hair removal. I’ve previously done IPL and diode treatments, which helped reduce body hair and lighten my underarms. Now I want something more permanent, so I’m getting this done before I turn 30.

16. Try contact lenses. As a bride-to-be, I need to get comfortable wearing contacts for a full day. I wore them for the first time at a bridal fair which happened to be the perfect occasion since I also had a bridal makeup trial that day. Surprisingly, they were so comfortable that I barely noticed I was wearing them!

17. No added sugar for 30 days. The most I’ve managed so far is 14 days. I think this is very doable once I’m fully committed to my fitness era.

Growth, Creativity & Life Milestones

18. Launch my website. If you’re reading this, hi! I HAVE MY OWN WEBSITE.

19. Read at least 30 books this year (2026). I’ve currently read 20 books. Only 10 to go!

20. Read a book at the beach. A bookish must-do. No further explanation needed.

21. Learn how to use and draw in Procreate. I’ve been following @brushwithbree and have been wanting to self-study for a while now. This is the year!

22. Clean and sort through my phone photos. THE MOST DIFFICULT one for me. Okay, dramatic. But, transferring files is genuinely not my favorite thing. I once told my fiancé: if I were rich, I’d hire an assistant whose only job is to keep my devices’ memory free at all times.

23. Learn to bake. My mom is an AMAZING cook, and I absolutely love her cookies. This one will double as a great mother-daughter bonding experience!

24. Try pottery. A fun way to exercise my creativity. I tried handbuilding pottery for the first time during our surprise bridal shower for Danie. This was supposed to be a matcha bowl 😂 Maybe it’ll still be useful as a pasta bowl?

25. Learn calligraphy. To keep it budget-friendly, I’ll print practice sheets, buy a calligraphy starter kit, and self-study at home.

26. Build new sources of income. I have so many goals in life, and I want to live comfortably. I know I can do anything I put my mind to.

27. Buy a house. A huge milestone as an adult! Bought a home with my fiancé and I cannot wait to build our life in it.

28. Plan a wedding. Fully in my bride era!!! I’m marrying the love of my life soon, and I’m so grateful he’s just as involved in the planning as I am.

29. Get photos taken by a professional photographer. My real goal here is to feel absolutely stunning during our prenup shoot, captured by photographers who truly know what they’re doing.

30. Be My Fittest Ever!

Back in the gym, back to running, back to feeling strong. By the time I turn 30, I want to be in the best shape of my life. Best milestone to end this list on!
